Dr Andrew Rickman OBE
Chairman
Dr Andrew Rickman OBE is Chairman of Rockley Group and primarily responsible for the identification, nurturing and negotiation of deal flow opportunities.
Andrew was previously founder, CEO and Chairman of Bookham Inc., which he grew from a start-up to world no 2 in optical communications components, floated on the London Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. He is now chairman of venture backed companies in the UK, USA and China and specialises in co-founding and guiding technology companies focused on large and timely markets.
Andrew holds a mechanical engineering degree from Imperial College London, a PhD in Photonics from Surrey University and an MBA from Cranfield University. In 2000, he was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Millennium Honours list for services to the telecommunications industry. He is a visiting professor at the Shanghai Institute for Microsystems and Information Technology (SIMIT) and a technical advisor, Nantong Optoelectronics Engineering Center, Nantong.
Dr Yanong Ning
Partner
Dr Yanong Ning, Partner, Rockley Group. He is responsible for the generation and management of transactions in China. Yanong has had a wide ranging career in sales, marketing and business development in the optical telecoms industry in the Asia Pacific region. He has extensive experience in fibre optics and sensor technology businesses in the UK, China, Asia and the USA. Yanong holds research fellowships at the University of Kent and City University, London.
Dr Ning graduated from Xian Jiaotong University, China in early 1982. He holds a BSc degree in Physics and a PhD in Measurement and Instrumentation from City University, UK.
Robert Rickman
Partner
Robert Rickman is Partner of Rockley Group and primarily responsible for investment analysis of target companies, negotiation of investment and disposal terms, administration of the Group’s funds and investor communications.
Robert is a director of listed and unlisted companies worldwide, including Schroder's UK Mid Cap Investment Trust and Carclo plc a diversified engineering group with operations worldwide. He was previously a director of regulated specialist fund manager FIM Services Ltd with over £100m under management and of Bookham Inc. Robert holds MA and MSc degrees from the University of Oxford.
Dr Yulong Chen
Investment Associate
Dr Yulong Chen, Investment Associate, Rockley Group is responsible for industry analysis and technology matching. He has held previous roles with The University of London and The China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group. He is experienced in Materials science, chemical engineering and high throughput processing.
Yulong holds a BSc degree in Materials Science from Beihang University and a PhD in Engineering from Queen Mary College, University of London.
Zhongwei Xu
Investment Associate
Zhongwei Xu, Investment Associate, Rockley Group is responsible for industrial analysis and financial valuation. He is familiar with international business and has held previous roles with Li&Fung Limited and Shop Direct Group. He also has a deep insight into supply chain industry and macroeconomics in mainland China.
Zhongwei holds a BA degree in Management from Shanghai University and an MSc Degree in Economics and Finance from University of Bath. He has passed all 3 CFA level tests.
Xiao Tan
Investment Associate
Xiao Tan, Investment Associate, Rockley Group is responsible for industry analysis and financial analysis. She has held previous roles with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Zhejiang Daily Press Group, and Hainan Golden Finger Investment Group.
Xiao holds a BA degree in International Business Management from Nottingham Business School and an MSc Degree in Accounting and Finance from London School of Economics. She is a CFA Level 3 Candidate.
